Creating Financial Accessibility
Accessible Yoga Ambassadors and Volunteer Teammates are committed to increasing access to the teachings of Yoga by: practicing and/or teaching Yoga with a challenge, chronic illness or disability; bringing yoga to under-served populations; and by volunteering within their own communities - as well as our own non-profit organization - to help create financial accessibility. We are a 501(c)3 Non-Profit under the Umbrella Sponsorship of Integral Yoga Institute. All donations benefit our Ambassador and Teammate Scholarships to the Accessible Yoga Conferences. Your donation is tax-deductible and helps us make Yoga more accessible to ALL!
"Thank You" from some of our Ambassador Scholarship Recipients:
It is with great thanks that I write this letter to you. If it were not for the generosity and kindness that I received from you, I would not have been able to attend the amazing conference. I am so very thankful and honored to have been a scholarship recipient! Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart!
Attending the conference allowed me to meet other people from across the globe that are passionate about making yoga accessible for everyone and every body. I am so happy that I was able to go to the conference and meet so many incredible and inspiring people! I was truly touched by all the attendees and presenters stories and life lessons. The connections I made at the conference will only continue to grow and strengthen this vital community of accessible yoga teachers.
I will infuse my yoga practice with all the things that I learned at the conference as I am developing my online yoga business for those living with HIV/AIDS and other chronic health conditions. Now I have new skills to help me design classes so that everyone, including those individuals living with HIV, can get the greatest benefits from my yoga classes. I am excited about the road ahead. Thank you so very much!
Thank you so much for pioneering a movement that is greatly needing in the world of Yoga. So many people from different backgrounds have often expressed to me that they felt not worthy enough to receive the benefits of Yoga because of some physical or mental challenge that life brought. This conference was a major step in creating a voice loud enough to say to all people: "You are always worthy and deserving of finding peace and happiness."
The group of Yoga teachers and practitioners that came together to share knowledge, experience, compassion and most importantly connection was an invaluable experience. I learned so much and feel so empowered to carry on the mission of making Yoga accessible to every person regardless of ability.
Flying in from the opposite side of the globe was totally worth every penny. The new friendships and connections made, as well as the knowledge gained means that the mission can continue around the globe. I look forward to the next Accessible Yoga Conference and to its continued growth and success.
I added Yoga to my own personal health and wellness plan after my kidney transplant as an alternative to the strategy my physicians laid out for me. The personal benefits I continue to receive from my practice are immeasurable compared to the traditional wellness path for a transplant patient. It occurred to me how important an adaptive practice would have been during the months of dialysis treatment I received prior to my new kidney. After long research, I came to realize there was very little information available and even less accessibility to adaptive yoga for the chronically ill in my community.
After attending the Accessible Yoga conference I realized there were others, like me, who strive to make Yoga accessible to all, including the very ill and those with limited mobility. While there is so much more to learn, I now feel I have found the community for support and further education in my goal of serving the chronically ill in my area and beyond. Thank you for arranging and including me in the opportunity to join such an amazing group of like-minded people. I am so honored to be part of the Accessible Yoga movement and am more than excited for next year’s 2nd Annual Accessible Yoga Conference.
After 10 years of building Yogic accessibility in my community, and feeling lonely and misunderstood at times in this work, I have found my "tribe" at the 1st Annual Accessible Yoga Conference! Now, I have an accessible community to connect to when I need support. I know I am not alone...
This conference absolutely fortified me and gave me the encouragement I needed to continue my journey as an Accessible Yoga Teacher. Yes, we learned new things at the conference, but we were also validated and acknowledged for what we have been doing right.
We all have more to learn, but many of us have been blazing a path of our own- and now those paths can lead to Accessible Yoga, a beautiful hearth where we can gather and glow together. Thank you, Accessible Yoga, for CONNECTING, INCLUDING and EMPOWERING us.
